The Reverend Walter B Carlson and Debby Carlson
Wally Carlson was born and raised in Kankakee, Illinois. He attended Illinois Wesleyan University for his bachelor's degree and Vanderbilt University for his master's degree. He and Debby were married in 1985. She was born and raised in Peoria and attended Illinois State University for her bachelor's degree, with additional study at Northwestern, Eastern Illinois, and University of Illinois-Springfield. Wally was first ordained in the United Methodist Church in 1973 and retired in 2014 - until the bishop came asking him to do some interim work (which he has done ever since.) Debby retired from teaching in 2011 after teaching forty years. She was then trained to be a Director of Stephen Ministries (a lay pastoral ministry) which she did until Wally retired.
They have five children: Lindsay, Jeremy (married to Andrea and father of Theodore), Alex (married to Katie), Liz, and Nick.
Wally and Debby read, travel, sail, kayak, and passionately root for the Cubs - as well as simply spending time with each other and their family.
